The Braided Hair Half Cents were the final series of half cents. Their production ran from 1840 to 1857, with the first half consisting on proof varieties only. Although this series boasted some of the lowest mintages, they can all be found easily in a variety of grades. The red variety will be the hardest to come by, and therefore the most valuable.
